Welcome to Ordinary Therapy! I am looking forward to meeting you and listening to your story.

I specialize in working with Education Workers, Professionals and Parents (individually or as a couple). With over 15 years working in the education system I offer a specialized understanding of the school environment and the personal challenges that can emerge.

I am passionate about working with teachers, educational assistants and other educational workers. With a keen understanding of the challenges and rewards that come from working in schools, I provide empathy, acceptance and non-judgemental support. Concerns such as compassion stress or fatigue, compassion satisfaction, burnout, disengagement, anxiety, perfectionism, relational challenges, and life transitions can be addressed. My approach is adaptive and will ensure the work you do in sessions best fits your needs and lifestyle. I am thoughtful, contemplative and patient.

When working with parents, our sessions can address concerns about parent-child relationships, emotional concerns, behavioural concerns, school concerns, inclusive education and parenting children with an ADHD diagnosis. I am sympathetic to the challenges families may experience navigating various systems of support within the education system. I work with parents as they navigate meeting the ever-changing needs of their children, adding supports and new perspectives.

As your therapist, I offer a space to consider your experience up until now and ask you how you might like to live differently. Life may not change, but your satisfaction in life can. My approach to your goals is flexible, using various approaches from Acceptance Commitment Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy.

Before my work as a counselling therapist, I worked as an educational assistant and then a teacher in the public school system for over 15 years. I’ve also worked as a flight attendant. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) licensed in Alberta (ACTA). I hold a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Masters of Education.
